Writer, Sailor, Soldier, Spy: Ernest Hemingway's Secret Adventures, 1935-1961

Monday, April 3
7:30 - 9 PM

Ernest Hemingway, true to his macho image, plunged into intelligence work with characteristic passion. From the Spanish Civil War to the Cold War, Hemingway engaged in high-intensity spy missions: meeting Soviet operatives in Spain; searching for Fascist spies in Cuba; patrolling the Caribbean for Nazi subs; and roaming the battlefields of France after D-Day; not to mention his recruitment by the NKVD in late 1940. Nicholas Reynolds, an intelligence and military historian and former CIA officer, became fascinated by Hemingway's involvement with espionage while serving as the historian for the CIA Museum. Join Reynolds as he discusses his new book Writer, Sailor, Soldier, Spy and how Hemingway's secret adventures shaped his life and work.

The book will be available for sale and signing at the event.
