William Playfair: The Most Famous Man You Have Never Heard Of

Wednesday, June 20
6:30 PM

Your PowerPoint presentation would be nothing without an 18th century Scottish spy. William Playfair was an adventurer of questionable repute who invented "statistical graphics"- line, bar, and pie charts. Also known for his theories explaining trade and investment, and his contributions to concepts like price indexes and measures of national power, Playfair was, in fact, a secret agent. Bruce Berkowitz, author of PLAYFAIR: The True Story of the British Secret Agent Who Changed How We See the World, will share tales of the colorful, influential rogue and how the author was finally able to prove Playfair's role working for top British officials in an audacious operation that may have changed the course of the French Revolution.

Playfair will be available for sale and signing at the event.
